Famously referred to as the Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle is made up of four turtles that first made it in comic books before being reproduced as toys and other merchandise. Most of its prominence and success was during the 1980’s and 90’s. The Ninja Turtles gained most fame when the animated figures of the comic book started being reproduced as toys in 1988 by the Playmates Toys Inc. However, what contributed the most in popularizing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle were the comic books being produced and an animated series.

1987 was the year that saw most of the toys generating a good market. These were made in the form of action figures, playsets, accessories and vehicles that kids couldn’t get enough of. The Playmates Company at the time was the only company that had been licensed to produce the Ninja Turtle’s merchandise.

The reason behind this huge success was as a result of the collaboration between the shows running on TV as well as the comic books. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toy as a result became the most successful toy of all time. This was a great benefit to the licensing company that ended up generating billions of dollars from the sales.

TMNT toys continued to be produced. These were based on the 2003 production of the ongoing TV series. This gave the licensed companies a new dimension of producing action figure toys. The toys that were released from 2008 were the four turtles armed with their weapons and two extra hands. The most popular characters in all of these are Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello.

• Leonardo is a character of very high courage which makes him a leader. He is also a martial arts student and puts on a blue mask. Of the Ninja Turtles, he is the one armed with most of the skills and experience in several areas like Science, Engineering and Painting.
• Michelangelo puts on a yellow mask. He is the free spirited and easy going one. However, he is more creative and adventurous than the rest. Michelangelo is the youngest of the turtles and in the series; he speaks with a southern California accent.
• Raphael is the bad boy. He wears a red mask and has a very aggressive nature-always ready to throw the first punch. Raphael is more of a fighter and fierce as well, but quite humorous though in a sarcastic way.
• Donatello put on a purple mask and of all the turtles was the least violent. Donatello uses his special intellect to solve conflicts among the other Ninja Turtles.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys and other merchandises have been very popular amongst most of the users. It’s because of this that TMNT has been forced to share out the Ninja Turtles deals with other companies. Of all the vintage toys, this has been the most successful since up to date, it still sells in massive numbers. Getting to own all of these is a dream of many but; it all comes after spending a small fortune on them.
